Google（包括Google中国）在今次四川汶川地震后的反应被批迟钝，而有Blogger甚至用“Google Sucks”来表达对Google震后反应的不满。实际上虽然一开始时Google反应迟钝，但近一两天来的一些举措还是相当得力和有效的：Google地震形势图、Google Earth地震形势地标、天涯来吧中的地震吧等相关板块、Google移动地震资讯、Google寻找灾区亲人搜索、Google Checkout援助中国抗震救灾募捐、Google总部（含Google.Org）的US $2M捐款、Google中国的公司捐款和员工捐款（US$200,000×2，一加一模式）以及各种各样的地震信息OneBox……

难怪李开复会在著名的Google爱好者博客Google Blogoscoped上感到委屈了：（存照）

I am really saddened to see that many Chinese Googlers working all night on earthquake, only to be greeted with comments like “cold blood”.

Some examples of what Google has done:
(1) US $2M donation + working with special agencies on ways to make the biggest difference.
(2) World-wide house ads (www.google.com/chinaearthquake) helping to solicit donations everywhere – this is with similar intent and same expected outcome as the Cyclone case – only difference is no Checkout promo on homepage, since there is no Checkout in China.
(3) A “missing person search” built on CSE (this included over 100 Googlers adding URLs with missing person info manually).
(4) Google Earth fresh images negotiated/obtained in real time.
(5) Google Map with earthquake information, with satellite to be added soon.
(6) Video and blog search enhanced with earthquake headlines.
(7) Various oneboxes as noted above.
(8) Tianya Laiba devoted to Earthquake.
(9) Employee donations around many sites with at least US$200,000 donated (not including company match).
(10) Doubling of company match for employee donations.

The Chinese Googlers have been the most dedicated and passionate people I have ever worked with. I am proud to be working among them. But I am very saddened to see the hard work they put in not recognized, and even attacked.

At a difficult time like this, I hope we can all turn our anxiety and sadness into real contributions and constructive comments.

刚刚收到Google AdSense小组的邮件，传递如下求助信息：

“今天早些时候，谷歌接到来自四川震区政府和摄制组的求助信息，由于一直下雨，绵阳北川地区的大量灾民情况非常堪忧，现在急需可以让灾民避雨的60万顶帐篷！根据下午四川政府最新发布的信息，全省急需帐篷总共260万顶！”
